Cindy Sherman at the DMA
Getting excited about seeing the Cindy Sherman exhibit at the DMA this weekend. I just read this on the museum website: In addition, the exhibition includes a site-specific photographic mural produced in 2011–12, on view for the first time in the United States. YES.

Nasher Sculpture Center
S: Chris and I took a quick detour on our trip to visit family in Dallas on Saturday to visit the Nasher Sculpture Center and play a lightning round of I'm a Statue.
Such a pretty roofless museum.
The Dallas Art Museum is across the street, too, and they have a Posters of Paris exhibit running right now that is quite lovely. (Also, I found out a Cindy Sherman exhibit is running there next March, and I am SUPER stoked. I adore her. When I lived in NYC, I almost splurged on an original print of hers once but decided that it was way too expensive for my grad school budget...but I still regret not buying it! These are the things that haunt you, people.)

Garden Party at Laguna Gloria
S: Garden party! Laguna Gloria has a new outdoor exhibit called Art on the Green. Different local artists built mini golf holes around the grounds, one of which is this awesome giant rooster.
Last night, they had free cupcakes from the Cupcake Bar, beer from Brooklyn Brewery, and wine from Perdenales Cellars for visitors who wanted to putt the course. Of course, about halfway through on the part closest to Lake Austin, I started to get attacked by mosquitoes, so we had to skip a few holes and get back to our picnic spot by this amazing tree (I made potato gnocchi with a red sauce similar to this recipe, but without the beef, and brought it with us).
This is the perfect time of year in Austin. Right before it gets unbearably hot when you can still sip on drinks outside and not get all gross and sticky. Mosquitoes aside, it was a GREAT night.
